- The Words of Christ
- Confucius Quotes
- Buddhist Thought of the Day
While certainly thought provoking and generally edifying, there have been moments of humor. Consider today's pearls side-by-side:
Confucius: "Look at the means which a man employs, consider his motives, observe his pleasures. A man simply cannot conceal himself!"
Christ: "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
They seemingly contradict each other, and this made me chuckle. Upon deeper reflection, however, neither of them are saying "judge a book by its cover." Both of them say "look deeply and carefully at a person before judging them."
Christ also said "You will know [men] by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them."
If you looked at the "delivered products," or tangible acheivements of your life, what would they look like? Are they what you want to leave behind? What motivates you or gives you pleasure? Are these these motives/pleasures worthy of your perceived character?

Dammit Bryan! I was perfectly happy with myself until you trotted out with THAT. Now I'm mired down in self-reflection. Thanks a lot. My weekend plans of hedonistic debauchery now seem completely passe.
